Hi, I’m Yanill Hicks — a certified postpartum doula and founder of After Birth, xo. LLC. serving families in Dallas Forth Worth, TX. As a wife and mother of two, I’ve experienced the intensity and beauty of the fourth trimester firsthand. I birthed this small, Black-owned business after recognizing the dire need for support during the postpartum period — and the profound difference it makes when families are truly cared for. After Birth, xo. was created for new parents, women who look like me and families seeking support beyond a contractual agreement. This is a village — a place where care is personal, heartfelt, and shared.

Born and raised in New York City, I’ve always carried a nurturing spirit. As a young adolescent, I found joy in caring for the youngest members of my family. The inner child in me would be proud to see how that early love for caregiving became my life’s work. After moving to Georgia, I pursued my passion for helping others by earning both my BSW and MSW from respected universities — building a foundation rooted in both compassion and clinical knowledge.

After Birth, xo is centered on the whole family, as my goal is to truly share my gift and passion with others as I lighten the family’s load by nurturing the household.
