Meet Your Doula

Hi, I’m Yanill Hicks — a certified postpartum and birth doula and the founder of After Birth, xo. LLC., serving families throughout the North Dallas area.

As a wife and mother of two, I’ve experienced the intensity, beauty, and vulnerability of pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester firsthand. I created After Birth, xo. after recognizing the profound need for meaningful support during these transformative seasons—and the difference it makes when families are truly cared for.

As a birth doula, I provide compassionate, continuous support throughout pregnancy and labor, with a focus on education, informed decision-making, advocacy, and helping families feel confident in their choices. As a postpartum doula, I continue that support beyond birth by helping families rest, recover, care for their newborn, and navigate the transition into parenthood.

After Birth, xo. was created for new parents, parents who may not have family nearby, and families seeking support that feels personal, intentional, and genuine. This is more than a service—this is a village. A place where care is heartfelt, individualized, and centered around the whole family.

Born and raised in New York City, I’ve always carried a nurturing spirit. As a young girl, I found joy in caring for the youngest members of my family. The inner child in me would be proud to see how that early love for caregiving became my life’s work.

After moving to Georgia, I pursued my passion for helping others by earning both my BSW and MSW, building a foundation rooted in compassion, advocacy, and clinical knowledge. Today, I bring those experiences together to support families through one of life’s most meaningful transitions.

At After Birth, xo., my goal is simple: to lighten the load, nurture the household, and remind the parents who spend so much time caring for everyone else that they deserve to be cared for, too.
